PRINCIPLE

The sealing face is the flat cylindrical surface at the end of the RHP gland |
|
The
"Protection Ring" in no way aids in the sealing
but serves as a protection to the sealing face. The ring is thicker by
0.05mm in order to avoid surface scratching.
The "Protection Ring" is also
slightly larger in its diameter in order
to assure proper end-to-end alignment and to avoid metal-to-metal
contact with the centering ring thus reducing
particle generation.

During
assembly the two glands are positioned face to face and the "Centering
Ring" is slid into position assuring the perfect alignment of the fluid
lines. Finally, the two half clamps are positioned and during tightening, the PTFE protection will be compressed and the sealing faces brought into contact assuring a perfect seal. In this way the "Metal to Metal" seal is obtained. |
